Kahoot, Niue Language week

 This week for term 4 our first day if school after holiday's, we were given the task to complete some task's that were some what related to Niue, because it was Niuean Language week we were given a total of 4 task's to complete, the first task I did for our first block was to, create an Kahoot about Niue and to make it 15 question's long, doing this task was quite hard but I've managed using Information that I find is useful for our stage of learning , Niue is a very unique Island as it is a Coral Atoll and that is what Niue is known for it is one of the biggest Coral Atoll out there. 

  

PBL: Social Study's

This week on our google meets we were given a task to complete all of our social study's task, I am working on how the riots in Cuba affected Cuba and how the life of Isabel reflects what life in Cuba was like during the riots. during this task I learn't how the people of Cuba survived and how they cooperated during the hard time's, the people of Cuba were protesting and violence just went there way.

The people in Cuba had a civil war because of the corruption of the government

5 Images PBL

This week for home learning I was working on my 5 images task, this task was to explain what all 5 images mean and to describe what I learnt from the book Refugee that was connected to the 5 images, In these 5 images these images some were in depth with some of the character's that were from the book Refugee, such as Josef, Isabel and Mahmoud these three characters would go on to find challenges and risks that they had to take,

Snow Planet

 Swoosh I was going at speed of 60mph it was very fast it was like I was going at the sound speed I was very nervous as it was my very first time seeing snow, as I was going down snow came onto my face cause I  was going down hill, it was very frustrating cause I could not control my  sled I kept crashing into the walls Bomb Ka-pow, as the ride was coming into an end I took a deep breath and carried my sled all the way to the top of the snow track there really nothing to do other than tubing we thought we were actually going to do snowboarding and skiing, there was an room where you could relax and just take a break as I was taking a break there was an cage below it felt like I was in a medieval house as I took my last ride down the hill/slope I was racing a class mate and both came to an tie we were both called as the snow planet trip was done, I was really disappointed as we thought we were really going to do snowboarding and skiing unfortunately we didn’t on the way back to school we played a game called Rap slap it was fun on the way back to school as we were just laughing and what not.    

Gymnastics

This week we had kiwi sport for kiwi sport we were learning different ways to stretch our body these ways would benefit our body when done. The positions were: Tuck-Sit, L-sit, Straddle, Happy cat, Angry cat, motor-bike-landing. These positions would benefit you in many ways and stretch different parts of your body you could also learn other ways also, we also learnt the handstand as some of us students are still young and flexible it was quite easy for the athletic people, i'm an athletic person but couldn't do it but I caught on a little while later.

Mud Run Tough Guy & Gal

 This week we went on a trip to the mud run program in Helensville  Tennis Club, Once we got there I was amazed how it was nearly surrounded by trees and plants and just GREEN!, it was pretty remote as there wasn't that many houses just the ones that were being built I got out to find that there a heap of kids I was very exited as it was my first time, we quickly rushed out of the van to get a nice view of the place and it was amazing, We went towards the crowd and where it was gonna start we were exercising and warming up for the event...Once the event started we were all moved to the starting line 50 kids were allowed to go at a time.

Once we were waiting for our countdown 3 2 1! poof we run as fast as we can just like we were adrenaline junkies our first obstacle was a deep puddle of mud I quickly jumped on the mud cause I didn't really care about coming first I just wanted to have fun, We ran and ran we went up mountains on the way I met new people and some friends. I was running as hard as I could I ran with my friends and tried to out run people who were ahead of me.

I threw mud at kids all fun and games we made it to the end with a smile on our faces.  

Maths

 This week for maths we were learning about decimals and fractions, we were separated into four groups we were given different task but related to the same division my groups task was to find out what the problems would look like physically, we used all sorts of things that was in our reach it was fun doing this problem as it was fun and interesting me and my group thought we couldn't do this unless we tried, we tried and got most of it done. After a few moments we needed to share what we got each of my group members shared what they have done to solve the problem.

What I learnt from this task is that you can use multiple ways to find the answer and solve the problem using physical things I also had fun doing this because it shows how people learn and how they show what they learnt.

Kiwi Can

 This week our first week of term 2 Kiwi Can we were learning about resilience and our emotions Kiwi Can taught what emotion and feeling is about, we played a two games that was related to our topic the games were called emotion statues and Don't play with my emotions. 

What I learnt from Kiwi Can is that feelings and Emotions are different as to what it seems like we also learnt that being kind can cool down a situation and to use your WITS when a problem has erupted, we made skits about the emotion that was given to us by Miss B, Our skit was about anger we were given the emotion anger and since the boys we were we sneaked in a bit of laughter to our skit, our skit showed our audience that you just have to accept whether your good or bad at something.

Data

 This week on Wednesday we were learning about how to do data Mrs Tofa taught us how to do data, she gave us some time to figure it out and to calculate the numbers, What I learnt doing this task is to find out what average of things were by doing data it was quite hard but very fun to do.

The main aspect of this lesson was to learn how to do data and to find out what average of the score or part in the lesson was.

Kiwi Can

 This week for kiwi can we were learning about responsibility, Misses Mac taught us some things in life that could help us in future, We played a few games that were related to responsibility it was rough playing these games as we had our friend as our responsibility, these games may teach us to be responsible of the things we are responsible for as an example our siblings.  

Misses Mac gave us an enthusiastic start for our activity our activity was based off of our goals. It was very easy as for me I had a lot of goals to complete, I chose what I really had to complete like things that would help me out in life.

I loved what misses mac taught because us, students are sometimes not responsible, as for our parents they have a very big responsibility for protecting us and helping, I really look up to my dad as he is very responsible to get me going when i'm stuck.

  

Tech

 This week for tech we were learning about how to use the micro bit to count our steps, it was very hard hard doin this but I really enjoyed doing this we also learnt how to measure how long was a single leg stride, Mrs Ferguson showed us some tutorials on how to measure our foot steps using the micro bits, we also learnt some other things about the micro bit, We learnt how to use the micro bit to mimic a dice it was also very fun do that here are some photos of the codes.

 

Sky Tower Trip

 

On our Sky Tower trip we were very satisfied, Our tour guide Mara and Cooper gave us a intro about them selves and how the Sky tower tour was gonna go, We learnt many things about the sky tower and why it was built in that specific places, Here is a fact the Sky Tower sways to about 1 meter side to side, Maria and Cooper said that you could feel it sway, The numbers of floors was very overwhelming.

Thanks to Mrs Patea for paying for our trip and I had a very exciting and I also felt like an Adrenaline junkie. 

Architecture

 WALT:We are learning to create accurate floor plans for building a house.

What I learnt from doing this activity is, I learnt what my house would look like if I had a blueprint of my house that I live in, I learnt that building industries build our house the way is it is so that it can be sustainable, the numbers of walls that could be used as support so that it could hold up the roof over our heads.

When I grow up, if I join the building industry I would like to be an Architect

Coding the Micro bit

 This week on Friday we had tech,We were learning about how to code with the micro bit that Miss Ferguson had given us,These Micro bits were a small sized chip the were very nimble,These Micro bits were built with a built-in LED,These LED's were the things that showed what we had coded to let the Micro chip know what code we have sent through the USB that was connect into our Chrome books,We used a website called make code,This website helped us code the micro bit there were a few tutorials,That Miss Ferguson had showed us,After the tutorials we were given a task to make the micro bit play,Rock paper,scissors,This task was very complicated.     

Coding with Python

 This week for tech we were learning how to use Python, Python is a code like program that we use to code the Micro bit , We used a micro bit as a testing device for our flashing heart and so on , We learnt how to create and do the flashing although it was quite hard we used a tutorial to show us how to code the flashing heart.

This week on Tuesday, We had just started our architecture PBL,Our task was create a list of words that connect to the housing industry.I had read a article as I was reading a article, There were different types of words that I knew but didn't know the meaning,I used these words on my list,I used my own words or past knowledge to find out what the meaning of the word meant.

Project Based Learning

 This week I was working on my science project on this part of my science project our task was to work on a imaginary animal this meant we could create any animal,The animal I chose wasn't based of off out of my head I chose these three animals because of its good traits it has,Here I wrote some descriptions of my hybrid,So my animal is a close size to a bird so it might be quite big for my animal. 

Project Based Learning

This week I was working on my PBL we had to study about how do we make money by using bees,As some of yous know we make honey by using bees,I studied what was the economic value of honey and bees,We sell wool and sheep we also do trading,Bees mean alot to the human society,They have prolonged with us humans for 9,000 years.

Sailing

 This week on Tuesday we went to sailing at sailing,We went to okahu bay to do our sailing,When we got there we were introduced to the coaches that were gonna help us to sail,They gave us some information about how our rotation was gonna a go,We were put into groups of three and in each group is five people,Our first rotation was with a coach she,taught how to tie useful knots that we could use in the future,After a few sessions of learning how to tie a knot,She took us outside to a opti (Opti small sailing boat),She taught how to bring it down apart and build back up again,We each had a race against each other after 2 matches of having a race,Key won by 40 seconds,After that she took us to the speed boat or dingy,We got to drive in the area because we,Were only allowed to drive 5 knots in the border,As we got out of the border we could go as fast as we could,As our first rotation was done we were swapped with other people in the opti so that meant our rotation would be faster we did laps around these cones for 45 mins then,Third rotation,On our third rotation we were going on the big sailing boats the boats were called quest,as we had a spin of the boat we could sit right up in the front as i went up to the,Front it gave me a adrenaline rush so that made me stay there even more,After our rotation we came back and got changed and said our fairwells.

What I learned at sailing

I learned to use the sail and to have fun,When me and my partner capsized we used teamwork to get the boat back on its feat,

Project Based Learning/English

 This week on Monday we were working on something new something we haven't done before but soon to do in college and university,A project is a big piece of work it is all of your subjects into one whole thing when our due date comes we have to present our project our project has to at least 3 minutes long,Our first subject for today was English (Reading and Writing) Our topic was to write down a mini-seminar of our favorite animal I chose a cheetah because it is fast and fragile just like some of us humans.

Reading/Quesions

 This week for reading we were learning about Polynesian Panthers a group of Islanders protesting in the 1970s,We were  given some questions to answer with our knowledge that we read from these sites about how the protesting started,Learning about the Polynesian panthers was very good because we would know how hard it was back in the day when Islanders started to migrate to New Zealand,Islanders came to New Zealand for good education for there children and what not.Mrs Tofa a Samoan teacher really cool,Showed us some ads about how racist pakeha people were back then it just disgusted her really.She was telling us about another ad showing if you see a Islander make sure to avoid them at all times.
