 LI: To learn about Japanese places.
This week for inquiry we were doing something related to the RWC. We had to find places in Japan and write down facts about it. The 5 places I researched all sound interesting places to visit.

Reading

This week for reading we were doing something related to the RWC. We had to match these players with there positions and numbers.We also got to write in facts about these people. The things we learnt from this activity was the players positions and number and facts.

      LI : To make a Rube Goldberg machine to complete a challenge

The challenge for our Rube Goldberg machines was to turn on a computer without using our hands (Rube Goldberg did not make the simple machines he used the simple machines). This challenge went on for a few weeks and this is our final result as a whole group. 

We used 4/6 simple machines, we used the inclined planes to help travel a marble and car, then a wheel and axle (which is the car) we used it to hit someone so they can a action. Next was the pulley that had a block attached with it, the block would the hit the power button which will then turn on the computer. The last simple machine we used was the lever (dominos) which will hit me to the power me to turn on the pulley.

We made the inclined planes out of a meter ruler, The wheel and axle or car was just a small hot wheel car. The pulley which was the hardest to create The pulley had weighing bars taped together facing horizontally, Then a string wrapped around to hold the block with a enough string left to make the pulley go up and down. And the dominos was already in the classroom so we did not need to make it 

Writing

LI: apply inquiry,literacy and numeracy skills to learn about the RWC 

This week we are doing something related to the RWC. For this task I had to find out good or significant memories about  different RWC matches. The thing I found out about the RWC was that the All Blacks won the RWC three times and if they win it again then they will win it three in a row. HOPEFULLY.

Maths

World Time

This week we were doing something related Rugby World cup. We had to find out what time it would be in the different countries on 2nd November during the finals of the RWC. We used a time Converter to help us with this task.It was also difficult because big countries like Australia,America and Canada have different time zones in the east/west coast. The meaning of AM means Ante Meridiem before midday and the meaning of PM Post Meridiem is after Midday.

Basic facts Boxes

This week I was doing basic fact boxes.I took on The speed demon challenge.

Kiwi Can

LI: to cope with challenges.
We learnt how to face our challenges and experience/attempt them.
We looked at 3 different types of challenges and wrote about our feelings when we face those challenges. We figured out coping strategies in groups of three. We also played a activity we had to write down what we did during this term.

SSR selfie

This week for SSR selfie I read a book called special forces in this book It showed what army people do on special missions. It showed what equipment they used they different types of equipment like night vision goggles to help them see properly in night.

Swimming

This week for swimming we were learning how to do a streamline then rotate onto our backs if we had to breath.We also had to practice our strokes and turning over and floating onto our backs.We had to keep practicing till we got it. We also learnt with the boards that float we used them to help us with our strokes.

Advertisement/Writing

This week for writing we were learning how analyze a ad.I chose this ad because I am into basketball and I like video games. We had to answer five questions on this google slides. I thought about these questions and think how'd people would react to this game if it showed up. So I wrote down why they would buy it. They would buy the game because they are going to feel like they are at a live basketball game.

Li: to deal with challenges.

We need to practice dealing with challenges to deal with them easily in the future.
We did a bus stop activity. We had to explain the challenges in the pictures.

Duffy Assembly

This week we had a special assembly because a special guest came from maori TV came and his name was Jamie Wall . We watched  movie about his job. In his job he went to every game the all blacks had. He wrote down what the all blacks did during they're games. He was very lucky to get this job because when he was young his  friends dad gave him a book it was called men in black in this book it was about every player and every single game the all blacks played.He used his knowledge from the book to help him before he got his job.

Cybersmart

This week for cybersmart we had to make a poster about a simple machine we did in inquiry. We had to make the google draw look good. But before we did that we had to put in the main information before we could make it look pretty.

Maths

This week for maths we had to draw a piece of math art I we also had to make sure that it would fit into the space we have. The piece of art I did was a geometric landscape. I made a very simple art. We had to first plan it before we got to draw it. 

Inquiry/Screw

This week for inquiry we were learning about a screw that takes water from the ground to somewhere up high. We went outside to test it. We had to use tubes,tape and a stick. We had to tape the the tubes around the stick so that the end of tube scopes water out of the bucket then into a higher place. We had to make sure the stick was in a right angle before we could spin we also had to try and spin it the right way because if we did not then it would not scope up any water.

Advertising 2.0

LI: To learn about persuasive tools in advertising.
This week we were learning about slogans. We had to create three slogans about our school. We also  had to list somethings that people use to make there product look good once it is on tv.We watched some videos so we can get some ideas on how they use these item.On the video it also compared advertised product versus reality.

 

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we were learning how to cope with the challenges the kiwi can leaders gave us . We had a talk about what could happen if you were climbing a mountain with snow frozen ice.We had to ask them question about these challenges.
